Founded on 1 November 2025, SIBA was formed by the owners and operators of independent television stations to give the sector a unified voice. Our scope is regional — covering every Somali-speaking community — and our mandate is to provide a televised public forum on the issues that shape democratic life: freedom of speech, citizen participation, rule of law, human rights, peace and dialogue.
Modelled on international peers such as the AIB, SIBA combines advocacy, member services, and content collaboration in a single membership body — built by broadcasters, for broadcasters.
